Due to logistical and budgetary issues with New York State, the Suffolk County Fire Academy has temporarily suspended the National Certification portion of the Firefighter I Exam. We will continue to use the same format for the exam, which will consist of a 150-question written exam and hands-on skills testing. Students will receive a New York State Certificate upon successful completion of the exam.
The exams will be held once a month on the dates already scheduled for 2012 and students must pre-register for the exam at the Open Enrollment portion of our website.
Payment will be refunded to those students who have already submitted their payment for the May, June or July 2012 exam.
Students who failed the National Certification Exam, but are interested in retaking that exam for National Certification should contact the Suffolk County Fire Academy. Students will have the option of retaking that exam for National Certification or taking the exam that will be administered by the Suffolk County Fire Academy.
