Fire Officer I

Description

This course addresses all of the job performance requirements found in Chapter 4 of NFPA 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications. The course consists of five modules that can be taken in any order: Leadership and Supervision (15 hours), Company Training & Community Risk Reduction (12 hours), Firefighter Health and Safety (12 hours), Planning and Emergency Response (9 hours), and Fireground Strategy and Tactics for First Arriving Companies (15 hours). Topics include assuming the role of company officer, fire department organization, leadership, supervision, communications, building construction, pre-incident planning, company level training, scene size-up, engine company operations, truck company operations, and response to non-fire emergencies. All five modules must be completed within 2 years of the start date of the first module.

Prerequisite: Firefighter I or Basic Firefighter Training or Essentials of Firefighting or Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations with HMFRO
Certificate: NYS, College Accredited.
