Firefighter II

Description

Designed as the last step for interior structural firefighters, Firefighter II is based on performance objectives from NFPA Standard 1001, Firefighter Level II.

This course consists of performance criteria in incident command implementation, building materials and collapse, vehicle extrication, technical rescue, fire hose testing, foam operations, flammable liquid/gases, fire detection and alarm systems, fire cause and origin, fire department communications, fire reports, pre-fire planning, strategy, and tactics. The course will be presented in a hybrid format consisting of classroom lectures, online classes, and hands-on classes.

This course will require extensive self-paced, reading and completion of homework assignments and online quizzes by the student. Students will also be required to participate in online discussions as determined by the instructor, using IFSTA ResourceOne.  Upon successful registration, students will be provided with access information for the ResourceOne program and the course syllabus.   Pre-registration is required, after your registration is processed, you will receive a confirmation email with final instructions.

Course Length: 54 Hours
Pre-Requisite: Firefighter I, ICS 200*, SCFA Heavy Rescue Course and attendance at the SCFA Flammable Gas Emergencies field drill (within the past 5 years)
Certificate: SCFA, College Accredited.
