Introduction to Fire Officer

Description

This certificate program consists of two modules from the Fire Officer I program which can be taken in any order: the Fireground Strategy and Tactics for First Arriving Companies (FSTFAC) module (15 hours), and the Leadership and Supervision module (15 hours). These modules address the job performance requirements found in Chapter 4 of NFPA 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications, for their respective subjects and include topics such as scene size-up, engine company operations, truck company operations, response to non-fire emergencies, leadership and supervision.

Course Length: 30 Hours
Prerequisite: Two years of service following completion of Firefighter I or Basic Firefighter Training or Essentials of Firefighting or Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations with HMFRO, and Engine Company Operations or Ladder Company Operations, and authorization of the student’s department Chief.
Certificate: SCFA, College Accredited

NOTE: Students who wish to do so may continue on to complete the remaining three modules in the Fire Officer I course to earn Fire Officer I certification. All five modules must be completed within 2 years of the start date of the first module.
